A Trusted Colleague

A Trusted Colleague
A polished image
David Jarret appears as a disciplined young officer serving with the Garde Républicaine. He meets senior police officials and blends easily into the formal world of Tour security.
Access through trust
His professional role gives him mobility, knowledge of deployment, and a credible reason to be near the race route. The appearance of reliability later becomes one of the tools that lets him conceal his intentions.
A Family Revelation

A Family Revelation
A letter from Emil
Emil Florian tells Jean Florian that Jean is not his biological child and reveals his Jewish origins. Jean passes the history of the Djourescus and the name Vincent to his estranged son, David.
A son’s interpretation
David turns the information into a mission of punishment. Rather than seeking corroboration or lawful accountability, he interprets inherited suffering as a personal command to make the Dantiers suffer.
The Murderous Encounter

The Murderous Encounter
A planned collision
Jarret uses a concealed needle during an apparently accidental encounter with Florian near Rue Verbier. The injection kills silently later, while Florian’s movements and the crowded prayer service obscure the cause.
A second perpetrator
Corinne Delage also plays a role in the poisoning sequence, then makes herself conspicuous by striking Florian with her trolley. The murder becomes the opening act of a wider revenge scheme rather than an isolated crime.
Revenge in Uniform

Revenge in Uniform
A false civic threat
Jarret issues a crude threat in the name of the Sons and Daughters of the Just Cause, hoping to make the police misread his private operation as terrorism. He uses his uniform and the Tour’s routines to move through a public event without immediate suspicion.
Violence expands
When Astrid Pireque recognizes him, Jarret injects her too. His need to finish the plan now overrides any concern about witnesses, turning a hidden revenge plot into an immediate danger to the public.
The Final Lockup

The Final Lockup
Captivity made theatrical
Jarret and Delage keep the Dantiers in a concealed van and subject them to degrading treatment. Jarret wants Vincent to understand the family history as a punishment, not merely to secure an arrest or confession.
The plan collapses
Darac finds the lockup and interrupts Jarret’s attempt to kill the hostages with exhaust fumes. Jarret dies during the armed confrontation, leaving his family’s history exposed but his chosen revenge unfinished.
